Very captivating and informative podcast. The host, Dr. Laurent Bannock and his guest speakers do a great job of putting into context (which he loves to say, lol) the science behind sport nutrition applied to both amateur and professional athletes.
Great pod just started in my world of sport Science and this is a great insight, also great if you just want to learn some new things about sport in general... awesome !
My favourite sports science podcast. Learnt so much from Laurent and the high caliber guests he’s had on over the years. Always quality discussions on a broad range of topics. Great source of CPD.
If you really want to get a balanced scientific view of all things sports nutrition, shared with perspective and context, then the We Do Science podcast is a must listen! I have listened to over 50 of the current episodes and always get something out of every episode. Laurent was also a superb guest when I interviewed him for the Fit to Succeed podcast too. Thanks for your selfless work in the field.
Absolutely packed with up to date sport science presented in an easily understandable way. Brilliant!
I have been a listener to the podcast for just the better part of 2 years. In that time the podcast has been a vital resource in developing my knowledge and understanding in my studies for Sport Science and n particular Performance Nutrition. The Podcast boasts guests who are highly respected academic and experts in their field. What I like most about the podcast, is the approach in their ‘Science to Practice’ to help develop individuals to engage in Evidence Informed Practice. …..Highly recommend.
This is easily the best thing I listen too, epsecially since Mike and Martin stopped producing Real Nutrition Radio. Very informative and straight talking information. I particularly like the way some experts challenge Laurent too, proving it is truly unbiased. A very useful "tool for the toolbox" during my studies and beyond.
LB does a great job extracting the information from leading researchers, coaches and scientists and communicates it in a format the keen athlete can understand and benefit from. He importantly considers everything in context! :-) I've personally listen to them all at least three times!! I hope there are many more to come. 👍🏻
Laurent, host of The Guru Performance Podcast, highlights all aspects of fitness and nutrition in this can't miss podcast. The host and expert guests offer insightful advice that is helpful to anyone that listens!
Very interesting topics and helpful for SPEX undergrads! Would love to hear you get Dr. Leigh Breen on to talk about his recent systematic review on anabolic resistance in the elderly!
I really enjoy this podcast. It's very informative and I have been learning a ton. The host does a great job steering the conversations with his guests and both host and guest are knowledgable individuals. The guest speakers are just amazing and highly experienced, educated professionals. I've developed a great appreciation for their work and research in the field of nutrition and exercise. I'm eager to learn more so keep the podcasts coming!!
As a person with a masters degree in nutrition, I am frustrated and amazed at the amount of information being peddled on podcasts as nutrition science. From demonizing a single substance, to going overboard with one macronutrient or the other to most podcasts that want to sell products, whether their coffee to add some butter to, or their amino acid pills. If you are looking for cutting edge nutrition and fitness information from real researchers, rather than looking for easy answers from gurus with no background or understanding of nutrition or physiology, this podcast is for you! I have downloaded many of the past episodes and have found all of them to be extremely helpful. While I know most will gravitate toward the latest fad with easy answers, this podcast will educate you as well as stimulate your thinking on better performance!
In a world where there are many fads and opinions it is good to see someone looking to use evidence based science to find the truth about improvement in sport and fitness performance.
If you are looking for light entertainment then this is not the podcast for you. If you are looking for non-biased advice on the latest sports nutrition and general health science then it is! I listen to a lot of health & fitness podcasts and this has now become my favourite by a long shot.
Great podcast, one of my favourites. Evidence-based nutrition and training information from some of the world experts in their field. Has been a great source of knowledge for me during my time at university in my undergrad and will continue to be during my Masters in Sports & Exercise Nutrition. A huge thank you to Laurent for producing the We Do Science series.
Fabulous evidence based podcast on all things nutrition, of which offers pragmatic views towards uses in sports. As a team GB age group triathlete this podcast leaves me wanting to know more. Especially like the LJMU episodes as Dr Morton was a classmate of mine and Dr Close was my lecturer. Keep them coming please.
Fantastic content but the interviewer needs to learn how to ask a question and shut up. The Menno Henselmans podcast in particular, asks a question and then drones on for another 2 minutes before re-asking the question. I think it's an ego thing of asking a question but wanting to make sure his guest knows that he knows the answer?
The spirit of enquiry is truly alive in this podcast. Listening to experts discuss the latest scientific research concerning topics that matter to those interested in Nutrition and Exercise, makes this essential listening for fitness professionals who want to excel.
As it says above, clients and fellow coaches have been recommended this podcast by myself. Keep the amazing content.
The best podcast available on training and nutrition. No bro- or pseudo-science. Essential listening for anyone interested in improving health and getting the most out of their training. Thank you so much!
Downloaded all episodes a joy to listen to, really useful stuff for a non nutritional background athlete. All these experts for free makes it 5 stars in my book!!
An both an athlete and a coach I find myself recommending guru performance again and again to all sorts of athletes. It is rare to find a great practical resource that is so grounded in science.
Excellent research driven, nutritional-advise! The range of specialist guests is astounding, especially in the context of translating the science into practise! Keep them coming!
Great for your everyday fitness lover who doesn't have the time to sift through the enormous amount of scientific articles just to get a less than straightforward answers anyway. In the future, I would love to hear your two cents on carb cycling and intermittent fasting!!
